Plainfield Township Regular Meeting Eagle Pointe Plaza
Wednesday, December 16th, 2020 Via zoom
Meeting was called to order at 6:30 via zoom by Supervisor Lewis. 

Present:  Allen, Bassi, Houthoofd, Lewis and Reilly.                              1 Guest

Approval of Agenda:  Motion by Houthoofd supported by Allen to accept the agenda as presented with the following changes.  To be approved along with regular minutes from November 18th, 2020 there was also a Special Meeting on November 24th, 2020.  All ayes. Motion carried.

Public Comment:  none.

Approval of Minutes:  Motion by Reilly supported by Houthoofd to approve Regular Meeting Minutes from November 18th, 2020 and Special Meeting Minutes from November 24th, 2020.   All ayes.  Motion carried.

Financial Report:  Presented by Bassi.

Budget Report:  Presented by Lewis.

Presentation of Bills:  Motion by Houthoofd supported by Allen to approve the bills as presented with the addition of a check from General  Fund to Pitney Bowes check # 55722 for $2500.00 for postage and a check from Fire Department to MI Service Solutions for $496.00 for id tags.  Roll call vote: Ayes: Allen, Bassi, Houthoofd, Lewis and Reilly.  Nays none. Motion carried.

Building Department Update:  Lewis said Larry Watson our building inspector will not be retiring at the end of the year and will be here until September 2021.

Waste Site Steel Response Update:  Most response from community is they would like to see us keep the Steel Bin.

Loon Lake Road Change Update:  The name changes have been approved by the Road Commission.  They have ordered the street signs.   We will start sending notices at the beginning of the year.

Reappointment for BOR Members:  Reappoint Rob Streeter, James Szafran and Todd Herzog as BOR Members for another 2 years.  Roll call vote: Ayes: Allen, Bassi, Houthoofd, Lewis and Reilly.  Nays none. Motion carried. 

New Fireman:  Motion by Reilly supported Allen to hire Jake Kirinovic as Firefighter/EMT

And Nick Klus as Firefighter.  Roll call vote: Ayes: Allen, Bassi, Houthoofd, Lewis and Reilly.  Nays none. Motion carried. 

Assessment Roll Changes:  Motion by Bassi supported by Lewis to correct 073-L90-000-360-00 for $38.85, 073-L90-000-484  for $10.80 and 072-026-300-003-50 for $40.00, Land Bank properties billed special assessments in error. Roll call vote: Ayes: Allen, Bassi, Houthoofd, Lewis and Reilly.  Nays none. Motion carried. 

Fire Tanker fuel injector repairs approval: Motion by Lewis supported by Houthoofd to approve repairs on Kenworth Tanker for $4786.50.  Roll call vote: Ayes: Allen, Bassi, Houthoofd, Lewis and Reilly.  Nays none. Motion carried. 

Board Comments:  Bassi would like the Board to look at options to open gym back up if  the closedown is continued past December 20th.   All in favor.

Insurance approval: Our insurance is up for renewal on July 1st. TCA will get us our quotes and we will have to have a meeting before the 1st of July to approve.Grant and Hill Township Fire Contracts for 2026-27: Motion by Bassi supported by Kocher to approve Grant and Hill Township Fire Contracts for 2026-27. Motion carried.Parks and Rec County Grant purchase approval: Motion by Reilly supported by Lewis to approve the purchase that was presented to the County for the purchase of the 5 picnic tables, the fencing around the pickleball courts and the swingset in the amount of $23,510.00 and to adjust the budget accordingly. Motion carried.Entrance Mats: Motion by Kocher supported by Lewis to approve the purchase of two entrance mats for the 2 front entrances at the Plaza. Data Center and BESS Moratorium: Motion by Reilly supported by Morel to approve the Resolution to impose a temporary moratorium on the issuance of permits for the erection or operation of Data Centers and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) within the Township. Michigan scenic by-way, River road scenic by-way is part of township starts at Rollways, the pavilion is the last CCC building still standing. Corridor is looking for our support for preservation. c.
