Plainfield Township Planning and Parks and Recreation Commission

Regular meeting

October 9, 2024

  1. Called to order by McDonell at 6:30p.m.
  2. Pledge of allegiance was said by all present.
  3. Roll Call:
    1. Present:  McDonell, Toth,Houthoofd, Heal
    1. Absent: Johnson, Olmstead, Alward
  4. Guest:  Patrick Ready, Zoning Administrator; 1 member of community
  5. Approval of Agenda:
    1. Motion by Houthoofd, andseconded by TothMotion carried byvoice, all ayes.
  6. Approval of Minutes:  Motion by Toth, seconded byHealto approve theSeptember 11, 2024 minutes. Motion carried by voice, all ayes.
  7. Township board report: Houthoofd : Accepted the NEMCOG proposal
  8. ZBA Report: Toth: No meeting
  9. Community comments or questions:
    1. Fred Boynton:  Is there anything happening with the Marina at Loon Lake.  Suggested he attends the Board meeting. 
  10. New Business: 
    1. Board walk maintenance: Tate and Bob have been working on boardwalk.  Drain has been cleared
    1. Michigan invasive species grant:$3000 grant application is due in Jan.  Sign on Long Lake is down.  Long Lake has applied for the grant.  Suggest that we ask for 12 signs. 
    1. Pickleball update:  4 pickle ball courts requested- new fencing and extend area.  Need 6 to 8 courts to run tournaments.
    1. PTFD safety day:  Oct 19th 1-4
    1. Board would like to order geo dome climber.  This is old and kids don’t play on those. 
  11. Old Business:
    1. NEMCOG zoning manual update:  Will start working on definitions. 
    1. Junior member:  No update
    1. School board would like drawing and plan for path:  Paul was working on and he was absent today
  12. General Discussion and Public Comments: 
    1. Lots of building permits this year. 
    1. Who is liable if vehicle crashes into building that is too close to the road? 
    1. Dollar General:  started
  1. Motion byHouthoofd, second by Healto adjourn 6:55Motion carried by voice, all ayes.
