NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON THE SPECIAL ASSESSMENT ROLL FOR THE GYPSY MOTH SPECIAL ASSESSMENT DISTRICT

TO: THE RESIDENTS AND PROPERTY OWNERS OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PLAINFIELD, IOSCO COUNTY, MICHIGAN, AND ANY OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS: GYPSY MOTH SPECIAL ASSESSMENT DISTRICT(SAD)
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the supervisor and the assessing officer of the township, acting on the Board motion of September 12, 2020 , and acting within the provisions set forth in Public Act 188 of 1954 has reported to the board and filed in the office of the township clerk for public examination the special assessment roll listing all properties within the proposed Gypsy Moth Special Assessment District whose purpose shall be to collect the costs for the evaluation, planning and treatment of the gypsy moth infestation thereby mitigating the destruction and loss of our forests and maintaining our trees as allowed in MCL 41.722 Sec 2 1) i
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the township supervisor and assessor using plans and estimated costs for the proposed improvements available at the public hearing and in our offices for review and comment have prepared a 2020 Gypsy Moth Special Assessment role at a cost of $40 per parcel to be assessed in the 2020 winter taxes. Such assessment role is available in the township clerk’s office for review and inspection during normal business hours from the date of this notice through the date of the public hearing.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that a public hearing for the purpose of reviewing and approving the assessment rolls and hearing any objections thereto will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 9:00 am on ZOOM and at the meeting room at 415 E. Main St. at the Eagle Point Plaza. The meeting information is Meeting ID: 839 2614 1257 or by phone at 1- 312-626-6799 or 1-301-715-8592. No password is required. Please mute upon entering the meeting. If attending the meeting masks will be required as per Health Department Orders.
An owner, or party in interest, or his or her agent may appear virtually or in writing at the hearing to protest the Special Assessment. The owner or any person having an interest in the real property who protests virtually or in writing at the hearing may file a written appeal of the special assessment with the Michigan Tax Tribunal within 30 days after confirmation of the Special Assessment Roll. All written/email protest(s) shall be sent to the Supervisor at the address shown below or supervisor@plainfieldtwpmi.com to be read at the hearing.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that Plainfield Township will provide auxiliary aids or services to individuals with disabilities. Persons needing such services must contact the Township Clerk not less than five (5) days prior to the meeting.
