As many of you are aware the Road Commission is starting a large road project on Long Lake Road beginning May 1.  This is the start of a 2 year project that will eventually see the entire road from Esmond Rd. to Rose City Rd. repaved and a 3’ wide paved shoulder added to each side for walking/biking.  The beginning of this project requires the replacement of all the crosstube/culverts between Esmond and Sherwood.  That’s eight crosstube/culverts in this area and requires the road to be shutdown during the work.  They will not leave the roads shutdown in the evenings but they will close each morning for work to proceed.  This first part will take place between May 1 through May 15 if weather allows.  If we have a lot of rain, this end date of May 15 could move out.  During this time you will need to find another route into town or out to the lakes.  Lakeside will be open around the end of Long Lake to Kokosing and M-65 and Ora Lake and Esmond will be open to County Line and Flint.  Flint Rd. is getting a facelift with wedging and overlay but this won’t start until the culvert replacement is complete.  Once the culvert replacement is complete we will be driving on graveled patches at each replacement site until the paving starts.  The current plan is for paving of this entire stretch from Esmond Rd. to Sherwood  starting around July 24 and completing around September 1.  Again this is if the weather cooperates.  Another project in our community this summer is the change out of two culverts for Smith Creek, one is on Esmond Rd. at the cemetery and the other is on Webb Rd. between Channel Rd. and Towerline Rd.  Both will require temporary road closures.  The Esmond Rd. replacement is scheduled for June 12 through June 29 with the Webb Rd. project following.
